Stow Disability Association (SDA) was set up in 1995 by people with disabilities for people with disabilities, no matter how minor, and their carers.
Membership is open to all ages.
We meet every Wednesday at Jameson Court,
Moreton in Marsh, GL56 0EW from 9am until 1pm
Transport can normally be provided free of charge for people living within a ten mile radius of Stow on the Wold/Moreton in Marsh.
Members can arrive and leave at whatever time suits them if our transport is available.
Some members bring a packed lunch so that they can have a bite to eat before going home.
Also some members stay after lunch and join in
with the Jameson Court bingo session.
There is a charge of £1 a day for refreshments. We also run a weekly National Lottery syndicate for members.
Members do their 'own thing'. Some play cards, scrabble, dominoes or other board games.
Interacting with each other is an important part of the day.
We have plans to start many more activities.
We also have 'away days' chosen by the members. Examples of past days out - Westonbirt, Slimbridge, Kew Gardens, Windsor, Craft Fairs, Boat trip, Pantomimes and many others. This enables the members to interact with other people.
We also have regular lunch trips.
Members are asked to pay £3 per trip towards costs.
The association has a minibus which has an easy access doors to enable people with mobility problems to board safely and easily.
Allison is our volunteer carers and helps at weekly meetings and on 'Away Days'.
George is the club committee chairperson, our trip organiser and volunteer driver.
